Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. Guarantee BVD Virus Persistent Infection Free Calf Program
Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. guarantees all calves born in your herd to be free of BVD virus persistent infection (PI) when all cows and heifers in the herd are vaccinated with BREED-BACK FP vaccines in compliance with label directions. If a calf is found by diagnostics testing to be BVD PI positive, Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. will reimburse you for the value of the BVD PI positive calf on fair market value at the time laboratory test results indicate a BVD PI positive calf.
Requirements
- Calves must be born to BVD PI negative cows/heifers vaccinated in compliance with all label directions with BREED-BACK FP vaccines 4 to 8 weeks prior to the previous breeding season.
- Calves must be tested by the original owner, at the herd of origin, for BVD PI prior to weaning.
- To qualify for payment, all BVD PI positive calves must be offspring of BVD PI negative dams.
- If a BVD PI positive calf is diagnosed, both the calf and the dam will be tested at Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. expense.
- Calves born via embryo transfer methods do not qualify unless both the donor and the recipient are vaccinated with BREED-BACK FP vaccines and are proven BVD PI free.
- A BVD PI Positive calf must be properly and humanely euthanized. Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc assumes eth expense of euthanized.
Documentation Required
- Owners name, address, and phone number.
- ID numbers of cows/heifers vaccinated and date of vaccination.
- Serial number, expiration date, and number of doses of BREED-BACK FP vaccine used to vaccinate cows/heifers.
- Receipt verifying place and date of vaccine purchases.
- Copy of test results from laboratory performing the test.
- Proof of euthanasia of any calf found BVD PI positive following retests.
- Age, breed, weight, and fair market value of a calf found to be BVD PI positive.
