FTA Cards provide a quick and easy way to collect DNA samples for genetic testing of cattle. Blood from ear or tail vein bleeds, semen or buccal cells can be applied to the card where the DNA is trapped and stabilized for storage at room temperature for at least 14 years. The cards can then be shipped to genetic testing labs for sire identification, marbling or tenderness gene evaluation, molecular disease diagnostics and the identification of genetically superior animals.
