Cattlemen’s College Draws Hundreds Seeking the Latest on Cattle Industry Profitability

College kicks off 2009 Cattle Industry Annual Convention and NCBA Trade Show.


PHOENIX, Ariz. (Jan. 28, 2009) — More than 700 cattlemen got a head start on the 2009 Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show Wednesday when they attended the 2009 Cattlemen’s College. This is the 16th annual college, which provides producers with an opportunity to learn more about how to increase their profitability through cutting-edge concepts and solutions. The Cattlemen’s College is sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health.


More than 20 sessions were offered at the college, covering all aspects of cattle production and marketing. Topics included animal handling, measuring feed efficiency, range- and pasture-monitoring systems, cost management strategies, and beef fabrication to enhance beef’s value. Session presenters included experts in a wide variety of cattle and meat industry areas.


“It was a tremendous opportunity for all segments of the cattle industry to get up to speed on the new ideas and technologies available to improve profitability,” says Tom Field, executive director of producer education for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA). “The sessions were interactive, too, allowing attendees a chance to become maximize their experience at the event.”


A lunch at Cattlemen’s College, with the beef entrée sponsored by Certified Angus Beef LLC (CAB), provided attendees a chance to discuss implications of the ideas expressed at the sessions. It also allowed them an opportunity to visit personally with the program speakers and presenters.
