The new NCBA officers were introduced. J.D. Alexander of Nebraska will serve as the 2012 NCBA president. Scott George of Wisconsin was elected as president-elect, and Roberto McCan of Texas as vice president.
Donald was recognized for his year of service. Forrest Roberts, NCBA CEO, said that Donald has navigated through tense discussions, and has taken the high road, provided focus and did the right thing. Donald always had his back, Roberts said, and that of the entire beef industry.
Donald and his wife, Betsy, received awards for their service from the NCBA and the Montana association.
Donald said, “Life’s what happens to you when you’re on your way to do something else.” He said he had a whirlwind of a year and enjoyed it, but his one regret was all of the time Betsy was alone. He welcomed Alexander as the new president
.
Alexander said that he is excited for the year to come. “This is a tremendous responsibility and I will take it very seriously ... I firmly believe in state, regional and local relationships.”
